Huge 1950s English Bear

This is Bartholemew ,(Barty to his friends) , a wonderful huge 28" English Mohair Bear, with glass eyes and in lovely condition for his age.
Barty has had new felt pads although one has a tiny pin-hole in it. He wears a nice stiff 16.5"collar and has a very assertive expression. Because of his size and weight Barty will be shipped in the UK only. |

This is a 1920s American 12"/ 30cm Bear called Sam Quirky, who has a love of the sea and a taste for travel.

1920s Straw-filled Bear

This adorable 1920s straw-filled Bear called Sebastian has very little mohair, but is the archetypal old bear ,beautifully formed with all original features, long nose, humped back, glass eyes. and an intelligent expression. He has a patch of wear on his right arm and another on his upper chest. Full pics available on request.

Dear little old plush sleepy Ted. This unusual character has no feet just a round base. it is soft stuffed with felted lashes and plastic hotwater bottle. The arms are wrapped around the bottle and nightshirt clothing, so all original. the little nightcap is faded by sunlight especially at the back and side. A rare little bear for your collection.

Hector is a rather serious looking English bear from the mid-1960s. He is soft stuffed, plastic eyes and the cutest hard plastic nose.
He has excellent coverage, tidy but worn pads and all original features. |

Adorable old Merrythought, 1930s with Button in Ear and Label on Foot. Another Bear who has survived WW2 intact. All original features. He is soft stuffed, close cropped and losing his mohair and his nose, but a very nice example for his age.

Farnell

A marvellous 1930s Farnell called Fitzroy, with all original features. This large Farnell bear has all his original features. Some mohair loss and cracks to pads but is still in excellent condition for age.

1960s Merrythought Cheeky Bear
Crispin is a gorgeous vintage Merrythought Bear from the late 1960s. He has the cuddliest soft stuffed body, and bells in the ears. A couple of Mummy repairs at the neck and on the corner of the mouth add to his obvious charms. The mohair coverage is excellent and there are no bald patches except the centres of the felt over-pads which are very frayed so the mohair underneath shows through. A lovely companion for an older child, or adult.

This adorable 26" Deans Bear is in wonderful condition. He has his underarm Childsplay label from Rye. Stitched nose, dark plastic eyes and perfect pads five way jointed pale mohair and no bare patches! A wonderful vintage bear who would grace any home.

1950s/60s Artsilk Bear

Little Herbert is a 1950s/60s artsilk bear 17cm, 6.5" high. He is 4-way jointed and firmly stuffed. He has a lovely wide face and big black eyes. His plush coverage is excellent with some normal age -related discoloration. His red ribbon is rather old but may not be original. His joints are thread-knotted and there is some play to enable him to sit comfortably. He can stand but is pidgeon-toed. A gorgeous little bear for your collection.

1960s/70s Artsilk Bear

Christopher is a bright golden artsilk bear from 1960s/70s with very few signs of wear and discolouration. He measures 17cm, 6.5 inches tall and has a different ear- style and nose shape from the other artsilk bears featured . He also has a little red tongue. he is firmly stuffed and is four-way jointed. A very attractive bear for your collection.

Polish 1960s Bear

Dating from the late 1960s he is five-way jointed, solid stuffing and fluffy paws. his plush is clean and bright and complete , and he has cute glass eyes which may have been replaced.
He is 20cm, 8" tall and can stand and sit unaided. |

A Merrythought 1960s cuddly Cheeky Bear , Chesney is in clean and perfect condition apart from a rather frayed label. Standing at 14 inches high , five-way jointed and with glass eyes, he is a lovely addition to any collection.

1950s Chad Valley Bear

Sweetheart is a 1950s Chad Valley. She is quite small at 29cm, 11.5" tall. Fully five-way jointed, her fluffy long mohair is a little sparse in places around the chest, she has traditional chicken bone shaped legs ,she does not care to stand unsupported.All original features , Glass eyes knotted behind her head, rexine pads are well worn but complete.
Overall condition is very good for her age. A really delightful old English bear. |
Vintage English Bear

Leon is 40cm, 16" tall, with bent knees where the stuffing has moved to allow him to sit down. He has long shaggy mohair, and adorable face, and part shaved muzzle and embroidered mouth, nose and eyes. One ear is loose and there is a split in the mohair just above the pad in one arm.Leon has perfect pads, some thinning of the mohair round the chest from being well loved, but overall coverage is approx 80%.
